Sir Humphrey Stanley of Pipe, bef 1470-1504.

After the Battle of Bosworth Field he became a knight. He held the manors of Pipe Ridware, Clifton Campville and Statfold in Staffordshire and from 1491 also the manor of Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire. He was Master Forrester of Needwood, Staffs., and Sheriff of Stafford. In 1497 he was sent by Henry VIII against John, Lord Audley, and he was at the battle of Blackheath where the rebels were defeated.

He appears to have had two marriages. The wife of the first marriage is as yet unidentified. However they had three children, John (later Sir John), Alice & Maud.

The second marriage was to Elizabeth Leigh. They had two children, Humphrey & George.

Sir Humphrey Stanley was buried in Westminster Abbey in 1504. He was succeeded by his eldest son Sir John Stanley (1481-1514).
